Venus Fly Traps are native to the coastal plains of North Carolina. They are a cold hardy plant producing medium size traps preferring to be outdoors in a more natural environment where they can lure bugs. Plants will go dormant in colder climates and re emerge again in spring. May also be kept indoors on a bright windowsill. Adult plants will grow to 6 inches tall and will multiply by continuously producing new rhizomes from the roots.
Light is most important for fly traps. Venus Fly Traps require intense direct light, this means full outdoor sun for at least 6 hours per day. Water the plant using the tray method, simply put about a half inch of water in a container and place the plant in water so it absorbs from the bottom, keeping the soil moist all the time. Venus Fly Traps are sensitive to temperature and can go dormant, they will re emerge in the spring. Avoid temperatures below 20℉ as this could kill your plant.

Avoid triggering the traps unnecessarily as this stresses the plant and can kill it. Of course it is fine to demonstrate it’s unique trapping capabilities by carefully placing a fly or ant in the trap with tweezers, but don’t overfeed , a bug a month is all it needs to flourish, it will catch plenty on it’s own.
